New Found Sound Onehunga is a music competition run by youth, for youth. It is an opportunity for young people aged 13-18 to showcase their musical talent, practice their stage performance skills, gain opportunities to participate in professional edge workshops (mentoring with industry professionals). The winners go through to a finals round later in the year (held at The Tuning Fork) with the chance to record their music at a professional recording studio!
Showcasing their talent to their friends and whānau provides valuable stage performance experience as well as an opportunity to connect and bring the community together.
To us, this theme of 'we may not have it all together, but together we have it all' represents the importance of connection. Connection strengthens us in time of change, uncertainty, and challenging times in our lives. Connection brings together people in our community from all walks of life, and helps us unite, no matter our differences. Music at our New Found Sound event will bring together different genres, cultures, ages, abilities, and different stories. No matter what people in our community are going through in their own lives, we hope our event will bring people together to enjoy and evening of fun and connection!
