Marlborough Pacific Trust has recognized that there is a lack of representation and advocacy for our young Pacific/Pasifika people within the community despite the continuous growth within the population. With the rise of young Pasifika/Pacific youth within our community the need for relevant resources and information rises too. As it stands now, our young (Pasifika/Pacific) people struggle to access services and support. MPT (Marlborough Pacific Trust) has recognized these issues and is seeking to address them as well as creating a platform for young people to continue to voice their issues. The way MPT will be addressing this is through the formation of the Faufautua Group, a group with the aim to Equip our young people with the right tools, Enhancing and developing skills to Enable our young people to succeed and provide a Pasifika youth voice to the Marlborough Pacific Trust organization and the wider Marlborough community.
On the 20th and 21st of May MPT will hold a leadership weekend. The aim of this weekend is to connect our group together, identify the individual and collective strengths of our group, create the strategy for the next 12 months, developing leadership skills, begin nurturing sustainable leadership and identifying 4 key themes that our young people will focus on addressing over the next 12 months. During the leadership weekend we will invite some of our local leaders as guest speakers to help encourage and inspire our young people but also to create a platform for our young people to ask questions and form networks.
