EVENT

Be BRAVE

Reeni recently approached the Council with an idea to run a dance/disco for the junior students at Rangiora High School, with the main purpose of raising money for the Brave Charitab le Trust.

Reeni has seen an increase in news articles about what is happening around the country in regards to students and young people experiencing sexual harm, abuse, and/or violence. With this informtation, Reeni decided that along with the work that the Guidence team continues to do for students at school, she decided that a School Dance for junior students (year 9 – 10) to fund raise for the Brave Charitable Trust would be a great way to connect with students and provide an opportunity to support the work that the school and the Brave Charitable Trust is doing.

This event will provide the opportunity for students to be leaders in their community today. But also the opportunity for the Junior Students to understand how they can support their friends if they experience Sexual Harm/Violenece.
The official timing of this event will be on Friday 19th May from 7 pm – 10 pm.

The theme for this event will align with Pink shirt day as well as a 80's disco theme.

To raise funds for thr Charitable Trust students will pay an entry fee donation and will have the opportunity to purchase food, drink, and event focused items, such as, glow sticks, scrunchies.
Adult support staff and youth volunteers will wear the Pink, so that students will know who to go to if needed.

Reeni hopes to be able to do two things with this event.
1. Raise awareness of Sexual Harm/Violence and ways to get support.
2. Raise money for Brave Charitable Trust so they can continue to with their mahi.
