Our event is Tupuna-fed and rangatahi-led. This event will provide an opportunity to access one of Rotorua's most iconic spaces, Te motu Tapu-a-Tinirau, Mokoia Island. our rangatahi will learn to paddle a traditional waka tete, and waka haurua as the means to access the Island. Along the journey, our tauira will delve into the rich history of Mokoia Island while learning iconic purakau along the way. Our wānanga will provide an opportunity for rangatahi to access spaces where their ancestors once lived.
