My introduction to supervision came through my experience as a youth worker. I worked in a voluntary capacity with my church youth ministry for seven years. I then accepted a one year contract as Youthworker Coordinator with the Wellington Regional Youthworker’s Collective. During this time I ran the Wellington Youth Collective (now Youthwork Wellington) and met with youthworkers from all types of organisations throughout the Wellington Region. I was one of the first qualified Supervisors from a youthwork background. My work covers faith-based and secular organisations.
I am self-employed and also co-own a land surveying company with my husband. I understand the public sector work environment from both team member and managerial perspectives (12 years as a senior manager) and have worked with, and for, not-for-profit organisations. This varied experience enables me to understand the work environment across a range of sectors.
