Ara Taiohi

Tena koutou, I'm Paola, I'm Italian and I have worked for more than 20 years in the therapeutic and mental health arena across New Zealand, Switzerland, Spain, England, and Germany. This includes extensive experience with individuals and couples in Protection and Social Services as well as in Psychiatric settings. As a supervisor, I incorporate my experience in trauma therapy and several psychological methodologies, including Existential Client-Centered Therapy and Systemic Therapy, among others. Placing a strong emphasis on the self, I work with the supervisee to set personal goals for professional development. Most recently, my area of expertise has been trauma therapy. Utilising a range of modalities, including Eye Movement and Desensitization Therapy (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed EMDR. Currently, I am providing supervision to individuals who work in cross-cultural mental health, drug and alcohol, family support and child and adolescent mental health settings. Supervision is tailored to meet the specific needs of the person. Supervision is offered individually and for groups via Zoom or in my office in Blenheim in English, Italian, Spanish and French.
