This year instead of swag we’re asking you to participate in a Youth Week first. A nationwide paper weaving craft project!

We’re asking you to send in strips of paper, card, fabric or something similarly bendable; see measurements/template below).

We’d love you to express your strengths on that strip – through drawing, writing (in any language), colouring or whatever. Just no offensive language or visual brands please.

Quick note, the material you send in could signify your strengths – so if writing or drawing isn’t your thing – that’s all good, please send your strip of material as is.

We’re going to work with our friends a Rangatahi rōpū from Carterton, to weave the contributions together; we’re planning on continuing to receive contributions throughout the year, culminating with a presentation at INVOLVE 2021.

The resulting weaving is going to be a visual representation of our 2021 theme “We’re Stronger Together!”

Preferred measurements are: Length/Width: 42cm x Height 4cm OR Length/Width: 21cm x Height 4cm

Template can be found here.

We’d love for you to get together and send in bunches of strips that you’ve crafted and created. Our postal address is Youth Week, c/- Ara Taiohi, PO Box 6886, Wellington 6140.
We also have packs of template “upcycled” strips for you to add your strengths to on one side. We’re pushing out our weaving timeframe, so if you could please send your strips into us during the week after Youth Week, that would be awesome!

Also – we’re going to be giving spot prizes! Are you keen? You gotta be in it to win it!
